BUTLER TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) - A Butler Township church was targeted by thieves.
Stillwater United Methodist Church members said sometime late last week, someone stole a large banner advertising a car show for charity.
"The sign came down before the date of the car show so people thought the car show had been canceled," said Tim Owen, a church member and car show organizer. "They were calling the church secretary and asking if the car show was still on".
On Tuesday, Owen replaced the sign at the corner of Frederick Pike and Dog Leg Road, but he worries the damage is already done. Owen said it is the only advertising they do for the annual event and it could impact attendance.
The church uses the? money raised at the car show to buy supplies to build a house in Appalachia.
Owen said they typically raise about $1,200 at the event.
"I just hope that the people who took the banner enjoy it and will remember where they got it," he added.
If you would like to support the Stillwater United Methodist Church's Car Show, it is this Saturday, July 27.? Registration starts at 10:00 am.
