British, Pakistani PMs to meet Afghan president

(AP) ? British Prime Minister David Cameron will press the leaders of Afghanistan and Pakistan to work together to bring security and peace to a country that has been at war for more than a decade.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai was hosting a meeting in Kabul Thursday with Cameron and Pakistani Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf.

It was the final day of Cameron's two-day visit, intended to guide decisions on how fast Britain will withdraw its 9,500 troops before foreign forces leave by the end of 2014.

Cameron planned to urge Karzai and Ashraf to "work together to achieve a secure and stable Afghanistan," his spokeswoman said, on customary condition of anonymity in line with policy.

Ashraf and Karzai are holding separate talks together following the Pakistan leader taking office last month.
