I came across this video on my news feeds today.? At first glance it seemed a fun video where the fish gets the cat - yippee I thought!!? It did mildly amuse me.
But then I watched it again, and you soon realise the fish isn't in it's best environment.? This is because:
1.? It is an Oscar fish.? Although they look cute when they are young, they grow big, and as you can see from the video it is already a large size, and?this is ALMOST full size.? A two foot aquarium is not good for this large and boisterous fish.? They like to swim round, dig up the gravel, move decor around and sometimes have a go at breaking equipment.? They, like all big fish, need space.
2.? Having a lid that only partially covers the aquarium isn't adequate.? These fish, as proven here, jump!
3.? Oscars are predatory meat eaters and are known to even have a 'nibble' at owners fingers when they do a water change.? They eat small fish fry, and smaller aquarium fish.? Their favourite food is cat (sarcasm) so it's a good job that is what the owner is feeding it as I can't think why else you would let it be there??
Pet cats get plenty of space to parade around.? Why not give the same privilege to your pet fish?
